What is CD19 Absolute Count?
CD19 Absolute Count measures the number of B lymphocytes (B cells) in your blood that carry the CD19 surface protein. CD19 is one of the most reliable markers for identifying B cells, making it the standard way to count them.
B cells are white blood cells responsible for producing antibodies that recognize and neutralize bacteria, viruses, and other foreign invaders. They are a core part of the adaptive immune system.
Unlike a percentage-based result, the absolute count reports the actual number of CD19+ B cells per microliter of blood, giving a direct measure of your B cell population that is not affected by changes in other cell types.
Where Does CD19 Absolute Count Come From?
B cells develop from stem cells in the bone marrow, where they mature before entering the bloodstream and circulating through lymphoid tissues such as the spleen, lymph nodes, and tonsils.
