Where Does Total Cortisone, Urine Creatinine Ratio Come From?
Cortisone is produced when the enzyme 11β-HSD2 converts active cortisol to inactive cortisone, primarily in the kidneys, colon, and salivary glands. The reverse conversion (cortisone back to cortisol) occurs mainly in the liver and fat tissue via the 11β-HSD1 enzyme.
